Thank you for your interest in becoming a trustee of our organisation. “Branches” is the operating name of our registered charitable organisation, Waltham Forest Churches Night Shelter – WFCNS Ltd. We are an ambitious, passionate and energetic charity targeting income growth over the next five years and beyond to expand the services we offer for rough sleepers and street homeless men and women.
Our Strategic Plan 2015-20 sets out three key objectives:
Our Board of Trustees is made up of highly experienced and ambitious individuals who are committed to the development and advancement of our organisation, and in particular strengthening our governance structure. In the last 18 months we appointed four trustees to our Board and they, together with our longer-standing Board Member, are looking to achieve decisive outcomes for our beneficiaries over the next five years.
We are now at a stage of exciting change and development. We are looking for talented and energetic trustees to complement the skills and expertise of the existing Board Members.
Who we are looking for
We are looking to attract applications from those with specific experience in fundraising, marketing, or business development. Candidates will be strategic thinkers. If you are able to engage with our strategic work, services and fundraising, and have the time to commit, with a professional or business head and a charity heart, then you may be just who we are looking for. The trustee’s role is voluntary and unpaid. However, we will reimburse reasonable expenses.
The WFCNS Board meets every 2 months. Trustees will be required to commit to 6 Board meetings a year and adopt additional areas of responsibility such as providing skilled support and guidance to the executive staff on a particular area of expertise. Meetings are held in the evenings, on Tuesdays or Thursdays, at 6.30pm at our Branches Hostel premises on Forest Road, E17. We hold an away day once a year for the Board to discuss long-term strategic issues outside of the Board room.
You do not need a housing background. If you have the commitment, expertise and enthusiasm we are looking for please apply. Send your CV to firstname.lastname@example.org (maximum 2 A4 pages) and a short statement of not more than 600 words on why you want to be a trustee and what you would bring to the WFCNS Board.
