We provide support and resettlement services for single homeless people. We are based in Walthamstow, London.
We provide accommodation for single, homeless people aged 18 to 65 years for up to 18 months, in our 27-bed purpose-built hostel in Walthamstow, London. We also have a new move-on property in Waltham Forest, which accommodates six people who are ready to move on from Branches hostel but are not yet ready to live independently.
We support, encourage, and facilitate the changes that people want to make in their lives through innovative support solutions designed to address the issue of homelessness effectively.
Our goal is to help people move on to successful, sustainable, independent living after their stay at Branches.
We support adults referred to us through multiple channels, including self referrals. Many individuals who use our services have complex and varied support needs, which may include mental health challenges, and addiction to alcohol or drugs. They may also have experienced long-term social isolation or have strained family relationships, and may have low literacy and want help developing skills so that they can get a job.
We have a person-centred approach, as a partnership between residents, service users, and staff.
We provide life-skills, education, and training courses in-house and through our extensive external partnerships.
We have a Volunteer Coordinator who supports and encourages creative and social development.
Current and former residents have opportunities to volunteer with local branches of national charities.
We are unique in having an in-house, certified Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist. Residents have immediate and direct access to this much-needed therapeutic service.
This therapy service is available to all current and former residents, and is central to supporting mental health challenges while helping individuals maintain day-to-day activities during the transition to independent living.
We have supported hostel accommodation for single homeless adults in Walthamstow and the surrounding boroughs. Places at Branches Hostel are temporary, for up to 18 months. During their stay we encourage and facilitate change for residents taking the very difficult steps towards their future independence and permanent move-on accommodation. We support people aged between 18 and 65 regardless of gender, religion, ethnicity or sexuality.
Thanks to the support from staff at Branches I got a job before I moved on!
Branches has saved my life. I don’t think I would’ve lasted another year on the street!
